A key milestone has been achieved for EROSS SC. The Preliminary Design Review (PDR) dedicated to the Servicer’s gripper was successfully held in Warsaw, gathering our experts from German Aerospace Center (DLR), Thales Alenia Space France and PIAP Space.
The review primarily focused on the test results and their impact on the overall system, with particular emphasis on the outcomes of the free-floating test, which were discussed in detail. The discussion addressed not only the capturing phase but also the releasing phase, as the gripper’s opening also required precise synchronisation with the robotic arm and the servicer satellite. The discussions confirmed the maturity of the design and validated the interfaces with the robotic arm and the overall Servicer system.
Thanks to close collaboration between all partners, the PDR concluded positively – consolidating one of the mission’s most critical subsystems for future on-orbit servicing operations!
